Personal statements are a crystallization of ourselves as designers. In creating them, we both reflect and deepen our understanding of who we are and how we create and communicate ourselves to others.
They are powerful because they serve as a north star in communicating your body of work to others. Every project you present should be a manifestation of this statement, guiding how you should frame and present work.
Conversely, personal statements help folks easily create a mental model about our work; a lens through which they can interpret how you make.
