1. Create a “home page” for your notion portfolio (one per person). Add your personal statement as the header (and subheader)

  2. Read chapters 4 and 5 of “Presenting Design work” by Spencer (other chapters have helpful advice about design presentations in a workplace). You’re responsible for knowing this material and preparing all of your sophomore presentations adhering to this advice (other than logistical advice not relevant to sophomore review).

  3. Find a (professional) design presentation that inspires / compels you. Here’s an are.na channel if you need help finding some presentations. Watch and evaluate your chosen design presentation, identifying 3 characteristics that meet the advice in Spencer’s book.

  4. Create a google slide deck (1 per person) and create a short presentation (each person makes their own slides individually, but all slides are back to back in the same google slide deck):

    1. Begin your slide deck inspired by your personal statement: a striking visual style + one liner that embodies your perspective in design (don’t worry, this is a draft).
    2. Then, create slides that visualize your analysis of a design presentation from step 3.
      1. Add a slide that introduces the presentation (and link to it)
      2. Add 3 slides to the deck, one per characteristic (from step 3). Design each slide to clearly and succinctly communicate your point.
  5. Turn in links to both the slide deck and the notion on Canvas. Share your notion the correct way:

  6. Rehearse and present your deck (embracing and following the “Managing the Room” advice in Spencer’s book) on PERSONAL STATEMENT PRESENTATION day. You will have 3 minutes.
